Practice Questions

The moments that decide renewals — slips, scope pressure, live failures, and heated emails — compressed into ten judgment calls.

How to Practice Effectively

For every scenario, picture the specific client on the other end — someone who pays for the work, cannot see your effort, and is forming an opinion about whether to extend the contract. Then pick the answer that serves the relationship in six months, not just the conversation today.

Pro Tip

A useful test for any client message: would you be comfortable if it were forwarded, unedited, to their CEO and to Hireboard's founders? The right answer usually passes both.

Comprehensive Practice Quiz

Ten scenarios spanning the whole board — because a real client week mixes trust, updates, expectations, and fire drills without warning.

Note

Most questions have one answer that protects this week and one that protects the relationship. When they conflict, this board always chooses the relationship.

What's Next?

Adopt one habit on your current placement this week: set an update cadence contract, size the next scope request out loud, or send the risk flag you have been sitting on. Client trust compounds fastest when things are calm.
